Find answers to common questions about our driving courses, instructors, pricing, and scheduling. Our FAQs are designed to give you quick, clear information to help you get started with confidence.
When should I make payment to the driving instructor?
Kneat Drive offers a complimentary platform for the driving community without charging learner drivers. However, if you choose to schedule a theory or driving test through their service, you’ll be required to pay in advance.
GENERAL DRIVING LESSONS
For regular driving lessons, you’ll settle payments with your instructor on a lesson-by-lesson basis.
Kneat Drive CRASH COURSE AND SEMI-Kneat COURSE
When you enroll in either of these programs, you’ll need to provide full payment to your instructor at the beginning of your first lesson. This approach allows the instructor to properly allocate time for your course in their schedule.
What is the main difference between Kneat, semi-Kneat, and general driving courses?
The primary distinction lies in course duration and lesson frequency. Kneat courses are completed quickly with daily lessons, semi-Kneat courses spread lessons over several weeks, and general courses offer flexible scheduling over an extended period.
How long does it typically take to complete each kind of course?
Kneat courses commonly last 1-2 weeks, semi-Kneat courses range from 3-6 weeks, and general driving lessons can extend over several months depending on your individual learning speed and availability.
Which course is best for someone with a tight schedule?
The Kneat course is ideal for those with limited time as it allows you to complete your training quickly, typically within 1-2 weeks of daily lessons.
Which course is recommended for nervous or anxious learners?
It’s completely normal to feel nervous. Our instructors are experienced in helping anxious learners and will work at a pace you’re comfortable with to build your confidence.
Do all courses offer the same amount of driving practice time?
The total driving practice time is similar across all courses. Kneat and semi-Kneat courses compress this time into a shorter period, while general lessons spread it over a longer duration.
Can I switch between course types if I change my mind?
Yes, most driving schools allow you to switch between course types. However, it’s best to discuss this with your instructor to ensure a smooth transition.
Are there any age restrictions for these courses?
In the UK, you can start learning to drive a car at 17 years old. However, you can apply for your provisional license when you’re 15 years and 9 months old.
Which course has the highest pass rate?
Pass rates can vary, but Kneat courses often have high pass rates due to the concentrated learning experience. However, success ultimately depends on individual aptitude and dedication.
How do the costs compare between the three course types?
Kneat courses are usually more expensive upfront but may save money in the long run. Semi-Kneat and general lessons often have lower weekly costs but may accumulate over time. It’s best to compare total costs for your specific situation.
Are your courses guaranteed to result in a driving test pass?
No, we cannot guarantee a test pass. It’s illegal in the UK to guarantee passing a driving test.
Who conducts the driving test in the UK?
Driving tests in the UK are conducted by examiners from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
What factors influence the outcome of a driving test?
The outcome depends on your performance during the test, including your driving skills, knowledge of road rules, and ability to handle various traffic situations.
How can I increase my chances of passing the driving test?
Practice regularly, study the Highway Code, take mock tests, and ensure you’re well-prepared and confident on the day of your test.
What happens if I fail the driving test?
You can retake the test, but you must wait at least 10 working days before booking your next attempt.
Are there any restrictions on how many times I can take the driving test?
There’s no limit on the number of attempts, but you need to pay for each test.
Do you offer mock tests to prepare for the actual driving test?
Yes, we offer mock tests that simulate the conditions of the actual driving test to help you prepare.
What's included in the practical driving test?
The test includes an eyesight check, ‘show me, tell me’ vehicle safety questions, general driving ability, reversing your vehicle, and independent driving.
How long does the practical driving test take?
The practical test usually lasts around 40 minutes, with about 20 minutes of independent driving.
What does the Pass Plus course include?

When should the remaining lessons be scheduled?
You must select a starting date while making the booking. The first lesson will occur on the chosen date. If you book multiple lessons online, you will arrange the timetable for the extra sessions directly with the instructor.
When can I expect a response from instructor?
When you make a booking through our online platform, the majority of the time, the driving instructor will reach out to you typically within a few days. If you find yourself waiting for more than a few days, feel free to send us an email at support@kneatdrive.com for further assistance. Please keep in mind that we guarantee a refund if a driving instructor is not assigned to you within 14 days.
If I'm not getting along with my assigned driving instructor, what choices do I have?
If you’re finding it difficult to enjoy your lessons with your current instructor or there are any issues, simply reach out to us and request a different instructor. We are more than happy to reassign you at no extra cost. Please bear in mind that this could result in some delays, so only request a new instructor if it’s absolutely necessary.
How soon can I schedule my test?
The timing of your test booking is contingent upon your specific situation. If your booking includes a theory test, you have the flexibility to choose your preferred date. The earliest possible time frame for this is 2 weeks.
For those who have already passed the theory test and only require a driving test, the quickest possible waiting period is 5 weeks. However, the typical timeframe for securing a test slot is usually around 8-12 weeks in advance.
